The 3 Tiers of Freedom (Part 1)
How to set yourself free materially, locationally, and spiritually
*This letter is the first of a two-part series.
Part 1 will teach you how to set yourself free, first with location and time freedom, then with project autonomy and alignment, and finally internally with spiritual freedom.
Part 2 will go much deeper into spiritual freedom and will be all about how you can set yourself free spiritually.
Subscribe here to receive part 2 next week.
I used to think freedom meant making money online, escaping a 9-5 job, not having to answer to a boss, and living somewhere warm and tropical.
I was wrong.
Rather, shortsighted.
Over the last few years, I’ve realized external freedom via remote work and freelancing is merely the tip of the iceberg.
External freedom is the ticket that allows you to explore the path of freedom and self-actualization to a greater extent.
The real game is the pursuit of internal freedom.
In this letter, we are going to talk about the tiers of freedom, how to avoid getting trapped, and how to accelerate your journey to both internet freedom and internal freedom.
The 3 Tiers Of Freedom
The path I will lay out is a pattern I have observed in myself and in others. This is not a one-size-fits-all roadmap. It is, however, what I believe more and more people in the modern world desire, even if that desire is subconscious.
People want to become wealthy and successful.
Why?
To have more time and resources.
Why?
To experience more freedom.
Why?
To pursue their souls’ desires, like traveling, reading, and simply being.
Why?
To achieve spiritual freedom, inner peace, and enlightenment (even if this is not a conscious motive, every soul desires to reunite to experience oneness with reality).
Everyone is on a spiritual path. The soul is constantly evolving. Some people just become aware they are on a spiritual journey in this lifetime, while others may not.
This letter will provide a roadmap of how to accelerate your journey towards freedom, first in the material 3D-world with money, jobs, and the digital economy, and second, in the 4/5D-world sense with realizing your oneness with God and infinite, spiritual nature.
Tier 1: Location & Lifestyle Design Freedom
The first taste of freedom is typically when one becomes lifestyle and location independent.
Think freelancers, remote workers, and digital nomads.
They are “free” in the sense that they don’t have to go to the office, they don’t have to wear a suit and tie, and they aren’t tied to one location. Depending on the role, they may not have to log on for any meetings, have a personal supervisor, or work defined hours.
This tier of freedom is also the first taste of financial freedom.
By financial freedom, I don’t mean having 7 figures in a bank account or a bunch of Bitcoin stored away in a cold wallet.
I’m talking about financial freedom in terms of skill level, the ability to make money, and your beliefs around money.
You are wealthy the moment you have total confidence in your abilities to make money, not in some hypothetical future where you have $1,000,000 in the bank.
You are abundant when you feel the same in your nervous system whether you spend $5 or $5000.
When you can make money whenever you need it, via signing a new client, picking up a new freelance gig, or launching a new project, you are financially free.
This ability to find work whenever you want it requires competency and a degree of mastery with both classic and conscious skills, market and trend awareness, and a network of other entrepreneurs, builders, and value creators.
A future letter will be on the 12 skills you need to navigate the AI & consciousness revolution, but for now, I’ll list them out:
AI Tools
Writing
Social media
Marketing
Networking
Offer creation
Sales
Product design
Intuition
Energy & Frequency
Metaphysics
Manifestation
(Bonus) Astrology
If you have a few of these 12 skills, you will never NOT be able to find work. And if you have all of them, you’ll be so self-sufficient and multidimensional, you’ll likely not need to work for anyone else ever again.
In other words, you will always be able to create an income, meaning you are financially free to live the life you want (without excessive Rolexes or sports cars).
Of course, freelancing with these skills will not create generational wealth. You won’t be able to sit back and watch money roll into your bank account as you do nothing as a freelancer. We need businesses with leverage for that. Freelancing is just the tip of the iceberg that opens up a sea of new possibilities for your work and life.
It creates heightened levels of lifestyle freedom and autonomy, which open up your mind, schedule, and creative ability to eventually build projects that scale, have leverage, and are aligned with your natural frequency.
It’s why I’m such a fan of freelancing as a first step towards building your own business, because you get to apply various skills (like marketing, offer creation, and sales) in the digital marketplace, learn through osmosis from working with other business owners, and begin to create the life you desire.
Tier 2: Work & Project Freedom
An interesting phenomenon often sets in once one achieves the first layer of freedom via a remote job or freelancing role:
Apathy and complacency.
Once you’ve seen the future you want (living on the beach, working from cafes, controlling your schedule, etc), and progressed in the game of business enough to make it reality, you can begin to fall into the dangerous mindset of “I’ve made it.”
This is when a monotonous cycle begins of repetitive routines, repetitive work, and a repetitive life begins to set in, even though you achieved everything you wanted on the outside.
But you begin to realize not much has changed within. And so you end up with the same vices, addictions, neuroses, and questions about the meaning of life as you had when you first got the idea to create a better life for yourself. A lack of meaning and purpose always leads to a cycle of hedonism and stagnation.
This is what happened to me in Argentina. I had achieved everything I had imagined I could want (up to that point).
Location freedom. $5 steaks. 2 hours of client work a day. Time (maybe too much time) to read and hang out in cafes. An incredible Argentinian girlfriend. But still, after about 2 months of this lifestyle, I burnt out. Not from overworking. But from a lack of purpose and forward progress.
Why did this happen?
Despite external success on the outside, my internal world had not changed to match the imagined state I thought these things would give me. What I really wanted was deep alignment, meaningful projects, and passion in all areas of life. What I achieved on the surface was what I thought would bring me these internal feelings, but this is not how reality works.
Everything we are searching for is within. The externals are shiny objects our monkey minds like to chase after, but our spirit craves something deeper.
So what must we do in this situation?
We must find a new goal to aim at.
It was not the beach or the cafe hopping lifestyle that gave you meaning, but rather the pursuit of that ideal that gave you a sense of purpose, progress, and forward momentum each day.
The beach and the cafes give you pleasure and happiness. Pleasure and happiness are not to be dismissed. They are integral parts of a healthy human life. However, pleasure and happiness do not equate to meaning.
You can sit in your parents' basement, eat pizza, slam Diet Cokes, hit a dab pen, and play video games all night and feel happy. But you aren’t going to feel meaning, purpose, or the greatest feeling there is:
The feeling that you are becoming more than you currently are.
The beach, the cafes, and the new social network become truly valuable when they become the fuel for your spirit to create something even grander, something that’s an expression of your highest potential, and something that transcends your own selfish desire for happiness and success to serve others.
In reality, these externals aren’t necessary for fulfillment. At this stage, all that’s necessary for fulfillment is the freedom to choose your own responsibilities, projects, and disciplines. And unless you want to live in a fantasy world of hedonistic pleasure or you’re okay with settling for comfortable mediocrity and complacency, you are going to need to pursue something more, something that fulfills you and gives your life meaning.
Personally, I felt more fulfilled living at home in my childhood bedroom, dedicating my entire life to building my first cohorts, hosting podcasts, and beginning my YouTube channel than I did living in Argentina working 2 hours a day. Fulfillment came from daily discipline and movement towards a meaningful goal, not the lifestyle design freedom I experienced in Argentina.
Now, I would say I felt the most fulfilled, free, and inspired when I was living in Thailand and immersing myself in the initial creative stages of various projects. Here, there was a combination of a lifestyle that gave me freedom and joy with soul-aligned projects. But you can feel aligned in your spirit living in a cardboard box on the street so long as you’re pursuining something that gives life meaning.
Fulfillment comes from the pursuit of a meaningful project.
Freedom comes from the freedom to choose what to work on.
Inspiration comes from a combination of the project and the environment you set yourself up to live and work in.
How to Choose What To Work On In Tier 2
You don’t have to wait until you have freedom as a freelancer or remote worker to begin working on a project that lights your soul on fire. You can do so now, even if you’re a 9-5 worker or college student. It’s just that your free time will begin to look different than most of your peers, but it won’t feel like a sacrifice or even “work “because your project is aligned with your unique soul’s frequency.
If you don’t know what you want to create, here are some mental models that may be helpful:
~ What do you wish existed in the world? ~
A good place to start is asking yourself what you wish existed that does not exist, and then asking yourself why you can’t be the one to create it. Maybe it does not exist, and you have the idea that it should exist because you are the one destined to create it! Seeing a vision for something that should exist but doesn’t isn’t a mere coincidence. It’s worth contemplating why you can see something apparently no one else has (or at least something no one else has taken action on).
~ Notice that opportunity lurks where responsibility has been abdicated ~
Do you see a hole in the market? Is there a community or product you used that was benefiting your life and the lives of others that no longer exists? Could this hole be an opportunity for you? Whether it’s in your job or in the broader marketplace, know that there is an opportunity for your continued development where a hole also exists.
(Shoutout JP for this great idea)
~ What’s something you would be proud to fail at? ~
Usually for me, what arises here is the pursuit of books and music. There is a lightness to these projects that makes me excited to pursue them, not for external validation or success, but for the intrinsic joy that they give me. What’s a project you can imagine that would feel light, easy, and fun, but also aligned with your authentic frequency that you can pursue? Maybe it’s a podcast series, a novel series, or a flag football league. This mental model can help take the pressure off of needing to create something that changes the world or “succeeds,” and instead makes the pursuit of a new project intrinsically motivating and exciting.
~ Know your astrology, human design, gene keys, and personality psychology ~
Your astrology, human design, and gene keys are maps of your authentic core frequency that exists below the concept of your name, personality, and social position. Think about it this way. Before you had a name, you were a fractal of the universe that came into existence at a certain time when the planets and stars were in certain positions. You are made of the same substance of the stars, and we know from the laws of physics that each part of the universe is interconnected to every other part, so how could the planets and stars not impact you in some way?
These are ancient branches of science, philosophy, and mysticism that have persisted and evolved through the ages for a reason. Jung was an astrologist, and so were JP Morgan and Plato. If you want to know who you are, it’s wise to not dismiss these things.
I have learned more about myself through studying my own charts than I ever learned in a university psychology course. Understanding the different aspects of my chart helps me know which projects are aligned and which aren’t. It’s easy to trust in the long-term vision of who I’m meant to be knowing my vision is aligned with what’s written in the stars.
For example, if you have a lot of Pisces, Sagittarius, and Aries energy, you probably aren’t destined to be plugging numbers into a spreadsheet every day for the next 40 years. You probably are meant to be a bold action taker, a nomad, a creative, and an artist.
If you have a lot of Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn energy, you probably aren’t meant to be a traveling hippie nomad freelancer, but instead it’s more aligned with your frequency to find something more sustainable and a lifestyle that’s more grounded.
You can look at your chart for free using this site, or if you want a 1:1 reading, I offer them here.
Once you begin working on a project that’s aligned with your core frequency, your astrology, human design, and gene keys, something that feels like play, and something you wish existed in the world, you are on your way to the pursuit of spiritual freedom with your business or project as your vehicle for ascension.
Tier 3: Spiritual Freedom
As I said before, you can skip the first two tiers and head straight down the path to spiritual freedom, even while staying in the same career or city you’ve been in for years.
I know a few people who have reached high levels of nonduality and still work as mortgage brokers and data engineers, still playing the worldly games while realizing they are not of this world and one with God. There are more people like this than you think.
I also know people who would argue that everything I said in step 2 is an illusion, that there is no meaning or purpose to life, and that the purpose of life is just to be present and realize your oneness with the universe.
I would agree… to an extent. Jesus was enlightened, but he still had a purpose to carry out on earth. The key is that the mission was not of his own making, but was the will of “His Father who sent him,” aka God, Source, The Creator, or The Universe.
Even if you become spiritually free, your soul will still have a mission to carry out in this incarnation. Each individual soul has a mission to contribute to the ongoing evolution of the universe and the collective consciousness.
In the state of spiritual awakening, the mission evolves from only benefiting the individual to benefiting the collective. In this state, one becomes a true servant of God, and their mission transcends their own individual desires. Nothing symbolizes this more than Jesus dying on the cross because it was best for the long-term evolution and awakening of humanity, even if his individual human self had to die in the process.
In this section, and in the next letter, we are going to talk about what is classically known as “enlightenment,” “spiritual awakening,” or “Christ Consciousness.”
These terms often become mistakenly pedestalized and seen as something to “achieve,” or states reserved for mystics, yogis, or saints.
This is not the case. Enlightenment is your default state. A preverbal baby is enlightened. The baby is one with reality, completely present, and is fully with whatever emotion is present. What separates a baby from an enlightened master is that the baby is not aware of its enlightenment whereas the master is. The baby simply exists in the state of enlightenment, as a tree or flower would.
The key to taking enlightenment or nondual consciousness off a pedestal is by realizing a flower or a tree is enlightened. It’s easy to see the flower or tree is “one with nature” and “an expression of the universe.” The illusion is that you are somehow different. This is original sin. This is the fall of Adam. The course correction is realizing you are one with the entire cosmos, the universe experiencing itself. Enlightenment simply means being one with reality and realizing the Divine Nature within you.

A flower blooming to its fullest expression is “enlightened”
"Is it not written in your law, 'I said, you are gods'?"
The Principles Of Spiritual Freedom
~ Beyond Self Conflict ~
In an enlightened state, there is no self-conflict. There is instead oneness with whatever is at hand, be it writing a newsletter, checking off a to-do list, or filing your tax return. There is no pushing, pulling, or resisting. There is an unwavering acceptance of whatever is arising in the present moment without wishing something were different.
~ Beyond Approval Seeking ~
Spiritual freedom is absolute embodiment of who you are in each moment. There is no caving to please others. There is no seeking of approval. You say what you want, wear what you want, talk how you want, and do what you want at each moment. There is no questioning of your actions because you know you are one with reality, and a vessel for God’s will in each moment. There is no need for approval from others because there is an embodied realization that there is no other, but instead other fractals of God looking back at you.
~ The Onset of Mystical Abilities & 5th Dimensional Perspective ~
At the higher levels of nondual awareness and perception, one begins to unlock abilities beyond one's own limited, separate self. This is when people begin to channel and communicate with higher-dimensional beings, develop psychic abilities, or unlock 3rd eye spiritual sight.
By transcending the confines and limitations of the small self ego, one taps into the infinite wisdom of God and the collective consciousness, and can see, hear, feel, and perceive reality in different dimensions.
~ Embodied Awareness Of Your Oneness With God ~
Enlightenment is often referred to as “nonduality.” Nonduality means no separation, or oneness between the individual self and the collective Self. In a state of nonduality, one perceives the outside world as an extension of the inside world, other people as himself in different form, and nature as just as apart of him as his own arm or leg.
Anytime we fall into fear, doubt, or scarcity, we have fallen out of Christ Consciousness and forgotten our oneness with reality. Faith is not about being saved by something outside of yourself, but a knowingness that a higher intelligence exists with a grand plan our individual ego cannot see. This higher intelligence, or God, is not separate from you, but in fact lies in the hidden place within your own heart and soul.
“The kingdom of God is within you.”
Someone like Jesus realized his full oneness with God. I recommend reading his parables and quotes with the awareness that he had completely surrendered his own separate self to God. He was spiritually free in the sense that he was the clearest vessel in human history for channeling Source through him.
He repeats this many times throughout his teachings:
"I and the Father are one."
“The Father is in me, and I in the Father.”
"I do not seek my own will but the will of Him who sent me."
“The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.”
What Jesus and all of the other great spiritual teachers have taught us is not reserved specially and exclusively for them. We can embody that which they taught. We can wake up and recognize our oneness with God. Realizing this is the essence of spiritual freedom.
As I said before, you do not need to go through tiers 1 & 2 to reach tier 3. This is not a linear game, and you don’t have to live in the material world. You can renounce the world and live in a cave or on the street and be spiritually free. But, if you want to live in this world and create a life of meaning and enjoyment, tiers 1 and 2 are often the prerequisite to a deeper pursuit of tier 3.
Thanks for reading.
The next letter will go much deeper into the spiritual path, enlightenment, and how you can set yourself free internally.
Be on the lookout for it next week.
Until then, sending you much love, and I hope you have a beautiful start to your week.
Talk soon,
